- The Twelfth House
The Twelfth House The Twelfth House The twelfth house is often said to be a difficult house for it is the house of hidden matter and issues that have been brushed aside and left undone, skeletons in the closest if you will. It is traditionally associated with prisons, hospitals and places that are out of view of the general public. These places are isolated or unknown and work in ways that most would not uncover. Working behind the scenes is a general theme for people who have strong planetary links to this house. It is also considered a secret house and an occult house where the subconscious tends to work relentlessly to uncover unknown factor that lie beneath the surface. It is the house of self-undoing and in many cases, it can signify how someone stands in their own way. We can gain knowledge with inner reflection and open channels to the subconscious and recognizing that they are part of the collective consciousness that envelops us all. Karma is also known to have its domain linked to this house along with charity work and the ultimate understanding of our sub-conscious connection. The sixth and twelfth house deal with service and they constitute service to others. While the sixth house may reflect service to others and the rewards it may bring, the twelfth house speaks of service without rewards, selfless service if you will. It is also linked to secret affairs as well as progressive illnesses and weaknesses within the body that can build over time and be the eventual cause of death. The aspects to the planets within this house and the house cusp ruler can provide information in this regard. You also have to look at the ascendant and the aspects to it as well as the Sun to get a clear picture of chronic health conditions that are suggested in a chart. - The Fifth House
The Fifth House The fifth house in astrology deals primarily with the act of pursuing enjoyment and pleasure in life. This can be found through many avenues of expression. The greatest of these expressions is found in the ability to express oneself without prejudgement and with ease. This is often released when the fifth house is activated through artistic endeavours such as dance routines or through a pursuit in music. Acting is also connected to the fifth house and in many cases many well-known actors of today have strong planetary influences linked to this house. This is the house of creativity. The eleventh house is connected to love received and the fifth house has to do with love given. This house is an expression of love that is given through romantic love affairs, although not linked to marriage. Marriage is a further continuation of love and is linked to the seventh house . The love given also can be spread through the love we have for our children, and this house often speaks of our children and procreation. Those with strong connections to the fifth house, either through planetary influences found in this house or by planets making aspects to these planets or the ruler of the fifth house cusp, will display many of these characteristics in their persona. Again this house is the house of pleasure and in many cases is also associated to gambling, speculation and a willingness to take financial risks It basically speaks of emotional enhancement through acts of playful interaction which provide enjoyment in our lives. Teaching abilities are also part of the fifth house foundation and anyone with a creative flair can do well in areas where teaching others can be utilized. Those with strong energies linked to the fifth house express some Leo characteristics as the fifth house is naturally ruled by the sign Leo . As a result, an individual with a Capricorn Sun with strong planetary links to the fifth house will be much more flamboyant and fun loving than the usual security minded Capricorn . The Capricorn tendencies of working to make a name for themselves may still be prevalent, but many of this individual's gifts would be found in areas where their self-expression can take them up that ladder of success which is so fundamentally essential to many Capricorn individuals. This Capricorn , strongly influenced Leo individual would not be as serious, would take chances and would be much more fun loving than the traditional Capricorn individual. - No retrograde | holmastrology.com
No Retrograde Planets in a Chart The energies of a planets in retrograde in an Astrology chart tend to make us look inward. Those with several retrogrades in their chart (and the magic number seems to be 5) tend to be introverted, even subdued and much to themselves. The energies have difficulties working their way to the surface and are stifled. It takes great effort to bring the energies to the surface and make the necessary adjustments to challenge these so-called deficiencies. Personally, this Astrologer does not believe in deficiencies. I tend to look at it as harnessed energy waiting for the opportune moment to be released. Those people without retrogrades in their birth charts are in the minority. It is said that roughly seven percent of people have this phenomena. It is believed that the energies of all the planets are released and given free reign and allowed to flow freely. This in turn can create an individual who may lack patience and they often avoid using a cautious approach. The waiting game is not part of their nature and they much prefer to move things along. There is usually great energy behind these individuals and they work tirelessly towards the achievements of their objectives in life. They have strong willpower and are persistent in their efforts to succeed. They move forward similar to Aries often advancing with little afterthought, if any, and they rarely disbelieve in their own abilities. As a result, they are normally quite successful. Some individuals without retrograde planets in their chart do fall from time to time; however, this will not stop them from getting back up and moving ahead again. Their determination is steadfast and they rely on no one for approval or even assistance. They believe in their own abilities and also stand behind their failures for they are valuable lessons. These lessons are not cause for alarm. “Let’s just start again and see what happens” could be their motto. “If it does not work this time, perhaps it will the next time”, or “I will just need to make some minor adjustments” would be statements you would hear from these individuals. They are self-reliant and self-determined. These traits can make them great entrepreneurs. They are willing to take the plunge and often without much reserve. Most of these individuals would prefer to work alone. This, however, can make them somewhat aloof and even distant as they unconsciously withdraw into themselves. They may even feel misinterpreted and wrongly judged by others, because of this loner type mentality. But this is only in extreme cases and it is wise to take into consideration the whole chart before coming to any conclusions. There are many things in the chart that can offset some of these characteristics, but moving forward and going it alone is quite common for someone without retrograde planets in their natal chart. - Mars' Return
Be prepared for action with the Mars return. MARS' RETURN The Mars return to its original placement in the natal chart by sign and degree takes place approximately every two years. Mars in many cases is considered malefic in its expression and often denotes aggressive action and conflicts which on some level require strength and determination. Before we go into the return and its implications and consequences, we have to look at Mars’ placement within the natal chart. Is it well aspected especially by trine or sextile with the Sun, Venus or Jupiter? Is it poorly aspected especially by square or opposition and in some cases conjunct with Saturn, Uranus or Pluto? This will help define what we are working with when determining the influence related to Mars in this return cycle. Because of Mars’ reputation of being a malefic energy, some Astrologers link its place in the natal chart as an area of conflict, but the resolution often can be obtained by facing things head on and believing that inner strength is part of our personal abilities. Mars is certainly in need of steadiness and control as well as direction and has been linked with accidents and struggle often requiring instruction. Many believe that Mars and its energies are something we need to worry about, but once again, we will need to look at the natal chart placement as well as other transiting and progressed factors present at that particular time to have a clear understanding of the energies at hand. Mars is also a timing tool and can be used when analyzing as something might occur and along with the Sun, Uranus and the progressed Moon, we will find that Mars can be quite accurate in determining when the energies are about to be released. Those that are in sync with Mars (Aries rising or Sun in Aries or a strong Mars placement) will find that the energies are more comfortable and easier to work with than for those that are not fortunate enough to have this present in their natal charts. However, it is always wise to set plans before jumping into action as this is when accidents take place or activities turn out less favourable than what we might have wished for. As with all return cycles it is a time for new beginning, setting new goals and plans of action. Mars’ return can help with defining when it is best to move ahead or stay put in our plan of action. In a masculine’s chart, it speaks of male energies and the aggressive instinct depending on what sign and house Mars is found. In a more feminine chart, it often speaks of the masculine spouse or someone who could be considered enthusiastic or aggressive or a prominent masculine figure In both gender charts, it can speak of a young masculine individual; as with Venus, in both charts often speaks of a young feminine individual. In both charts, Mars speaks of the sexual drive and ambitious, enterprising efforts made by individuals. When we are going to experience the Mars return be prepared for action. Sometimes we will need to anticipate activity, and other times, life just pushes us in a direction that often requires action, drive and a personal initiative. Pisces This is the last astrological placement of the zodiac. Pisces is said to contain segments of all the previous signs and may be our final step in our earthly evolution, depending on the level of awareness attained in this lifetime. Pisceans are known to be dreamy to those individuals who are less sensitive and prophetic in their nature. Pisces individuals display signs of psychic ability and have mystical leanings. There is something far away about many Pisces individuals and they seem to intuitively sense the emotional undercurrents that surround them. Piscean individuals are usually very compassionate and sensitive people. They have a soft spot for anyone undergoing life’s sometimes difficult experiences. They also have concerns for the underdog and go out of their way to assist others in need. They are extremely self-sacrificing and some can become vulnerable to the harsher side of life. There are those that would take advantage of their caring nature and exploit them. As these individuals mature, they sometimes learn hard lessons from the “users” in life and eventually learn to discriminate between those that genuinely require their help and those that just take advantage of their kind heart. Those with a strong Sun in Pisces simply need to have a purpose. They need a sense of worth and a driving force to push them towards their goal of spirituality. Life's lessons are understood as being prerequisites in this journey and many will martyr themselves for the sake of others. If they become caught up in unfortunate or misleading adventures in life, some will resort to the use of alcohol and drugs to escape the hard cold facts that life can dictate. Some resort to living in an imaginary world of their own and build walls of protection so their extreme sensitivity is not invaded. Many have a creative flair and music, the arts and creative writing are just a few of the boundless areas where this magical force can be expressed. When in love, they love deeply and are considered selfless and will orientate themselves in service to others, on a high level of spirituality. When in focus with their inner journey, they feel on purpose and the intuitive side can reach mystical proportions. Many develop psychic abilities as they mature into their role in life, although some become lost in confusion. Often sparks of the imagination can run rampant if not kept under control. The imaginary qualities linked to this sign are the motivating factor behind their driving force towards a spiritual connection and their inner strength as long as they are in focus. Life’s lessons often include finding their mission, creating a sense of self-worth and a meaning to their lives that goes beyond self. Through meditation and the practice of selfless living, many will reach heights unimaginable for those on a more physical, material journey. Pisces has been linked to the purity in spirituality and we can all learn valuable life lessons through this often misunderstood sign. Astrology 101 Pisces is ruled by Neptune and the twelfth house . - Planetary Returns
Planetary Returns PLANETARY RETURNS All of the planets move around our Sun in the same direction and have their own cycle time depending on their distance from the Sun. The natal or birth chart is a snapshot of the heavens at the moment of our birth. From that moment on, the planets continue on their rotational path around the Sun and this continual movement of the planets is referred to as transiting planets. All of the planets eventually return to their original location that it was in at the moment of our birth (natal chart placement) but the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) take a long time to complete this cycle. Upon being at the same degree and sign that it was at the moment of birth, the planet has made its return. Each planet takes a different length of time. The inner planets move more quickly and the outer planets take a much longer time to return. We do not live long enough to experience some of the outer planet's return. - Pluto Retrograde
Pluto Retrograde Pluto Retrograde Pluto moves in and out of retrograde several times each year. It remains in retrograde for approximately 150 days a year, often lasting for several months at a time. Transiting Pluto is a powerhouse in the horoscope, and it intensifies in strength when it makes aspects to planets and points within the natal chart or the progressed chart. The orb for influence in the transit of Pluto can be felt for those with a strong sensitivity up to 5 degrees while approaching (0 degrees being direct) and 2 degrees separating (after being direct and moving away). While in progression, it is most significant when it comes within 15 minutes of being direct. When Pluto moves into the retrograde motion, it intensifies and becomes very powerful. The transformational abilities linked to Pluto increase and the regenerative abilities are enhanced. Any power struggles can also become much more apparent when Pluto is in retrograde, so it is wise to avoid interaction that could lead to intense situations, especially if linked somehow to the planet Mars or Uranus. It may be very challenging to avoid situations that require change especially when Pluto transits a planet while in retrograde. It could be considered a time for cleansing and a time to release any worn out or outdated attitudes. It is as though you are addressing a list of things to do that was written last year. It is wise to review and remove those items that no longer apply and add more important requirements that are relevant to your life today. During retrograde motion, it is a good time for inner study and to dig up issues that have been buried for too long. It might not always be pleasant what you initially find but these challenging conditions will need to be confronted and dealt with. Any patterns in your life that have reached a state of uncontrollable insistence can best be addressed now and dealt with and changed (usually on a permanent basis). Much (as always) depends on which house Pluto is transiting and also the house that Pluto is located in within the natal chart as these will be areas of life that will undergo Pluto’s transformative energies. You may be forced to challenge any issues you dig up and bring to the surface. An example might be communicative challenges if transiting Pluto is moving through the third house or if natal Pluto resides in this house. Also you should look to see where Pluto’s ruling sign (Scorpio) is found as this will also indicate where these changing conditions might become apparent. Those with Pluto retrograde at birth are known to have great recuperative abilities and they can withstand illnesses that might be considered debilitating for many others. We would suggest that you review how Pluto is aspected in the natal chart. Also review the aspects linked to the planets that transiting Pluto is making aspects to during its cycle in order to get a feel for how these areas of life along with the energies associated with the planets involved will affect the overall conditions of this very significant transit of Pluto. In general, it is a good time to get in touch with any issues that need dealing with or cleansing. Review to see what your inner needs may be. It is a time for inner reflection and transformation that usually takes a year or two to unfold. On an outer level, it is also a good time to begin exercise programs and detoxifying diets that help cleanse the body but do not forget your spiritual needs at this time as well. Enjoy the rather intense transformation that often takes place as Pluto moves into direct and retrograde motion affecting planetary links and important positions in your birth chart. - Saturn
Saturn Saturn is the ruling planet of Capricorn and of the tenth house . Saturn is known as the task maker and challenges you in your life, to uphold written laws, to move forward in your quest for achievement and provides you with the stamina and perseverance to stay on course. Saturn is known as the task maker because of its relentless pursuit in objectifying and setting standards in order for you to achieve your goals in life. Saturn makes you work for your rewards and only through a steady approach and applied pressure does Saturn’s rewards pay off. Saturn moves around the zodiac every 28 to 30 years and these period’s, ages 29, 58 and 87 are turning points in our lives. The first Saturn return, which occurs around the age 29, is extremely relevant to our lives and (depending which house Saturn is located in your birth chart) during this time many of us experience period significant to our relationship. Some will go through transformations within the home front ( fourth house ), some will experience relationship changes ( seventh house ) while others go through a transformation in their working environment and occupation ( tenth house ). The changed experiences will be reflected by the house. The placement of Saturn in your birth chart represents an area of life that will require your attention and usually unless Saturn is accentuated with mostly positive aspects, will produce stumbling blocks and stress in overcoming obstacles in life. As stated, Saturn is the task maker, but it is also the disciplinarian, the teacher and the one that provides you with rewards for all your hard work, or provides you with challenges and obstacles to overcome when you try to ignore its influence in your life. Astrology 101 Saturn is planet of Karma and restrictions and delays. It is the teacher and the task maker. Saturn rules Capricorn. It is associates with the Tenth House. Some Astrologers say it co-rules Aquarius but again this is questionable. The Sun The Moon Mercury Venus Mars Jupiter Uranus Neptune Pluto
- The Sun
The Sun The Sun is the core to our identity. It is the principal and dominant part of who we are. The house placement and Sun sign determine who we are and our life’s purpose at least in part. The ascendant also has its part in this along with the North Node and its sign and house placement. The Sun helps us define our life’s purpose and is our creative life force that pushes us on our intended path. The Sun is the will to live and is also linked to our vitality. If it is well aspected in the birth chart, this will go a long way in offering a healthy and long life. The Sun is the driving force behind our personality and is depictive of the internal individual seeking to follow a life path, represented by the sign and house. The Sun along with Mercury helps us reason and they are linked together forming the conscious mind. There is a lot linked to determining our actions through the mental process and the Sun helps us determine what course of action to take. Along with Mercury it describes our final decisions and the conscious efforts that come to pass in finding and uncovering which road we should take. The Sun describes us. It is our basic identity and although it can be filtered by an emphasis in our chart (such as Sun in Capricorn and five planets in the fifth house or in the sign of Leo ) it will still resonate with who we are internally and our true identity remains intact even with strong placements within the birth chart. It could be defined as your best self, the one who resides within but also the one you are becoming. Properly directed and used in its most positive affirmative actions, the Sun is focused and determined and very self-directed. It is linked to the ego and when well-adjusted will provide us with internal fortitude and self-confidence to take us almost anywhere. When the Sun is poorly aspected and out of alignment (poor aspects do not signify a negative response, only challenges put in place for us to conquer) it can make us willful in a detrimental manner, extremely self-centred and condemnatory when judging others, seeking out their faults and weaknesses. The Sun is our driving force, our vital energy and is directly linked to our deeper purpose and part of the reason we have arrived into this incarnation. Seek out the positive and affirmative actions that are depictive of the Sun sign and along with the North Node find your purpose and the push behind your incarnation to create a core and central figure that you will totally resonate with on every level.
