Your state of being is not dependent upon your life’s circumstances. Happiness, peace, etc. comes from within. These conditions are connected to your thought process.
Your attitude towards your life and its events either creates stress and anxiety or assist in the feelings of peace and enjoyment. Events are meant to be experiences but not to define who we are.
We cannot escape the moment. Do not try to escape events but learn to accept, acknowledge and release. This creates a continual flow of energy instead of blockages. If we choose to hang on to thoughts and events, we can then identify those thoughts or events as a part of us but in reality they are not.
The eternal moment does not look back at conditions or look ahead in anticipation. It resides in the ever present. The moment allows us to see and accepts what is immediately in front of us. The moment is a very quiet place as there are no reflections and no preconceived notion on what might follow. It is just simpling being with our surroundings.
The mind judges things, whether they are categorizes as good or bad. We are the one listening to the mind’s constant chatter. We are not our minds; we are the listeners. If we identify with these thoughts we will take on the energy of those thoughts, and the energy in each thought is fleeting, but the real you is never fleeting, it is always constant.
Your state of being is reflective of what you focus on and how you respond to thoughts and events. This state is forever changing and is temporary. You can refocus your attention and change your perception but this too is temporary. Purposeful refocusing will help take away from anything that feels intrusive, but it is still the mind’s reaction and takes away from the present moment. Experience the moment and then let it go and be here now.
If you are sitting watching the sunset for example, you are in the moment. Regardless of what has transpired that day, being in the moment releases what has taken place. There is no ownership. It does not define you. The sunset is happening right then, and there is nothing more and nothing less. This in itself is an act of meditation and will quiet the mind.
Everything is still in the moment.
